What to Expect on Your Hunt
Each hunt is tailored to the terrain and species pursued. The hunt will consist of traditional spot and stalk methods, including walking, kneeling, and belly crawling, through a combination of rugged coulee systems and rolling native pasture/grasslands. The client can anticipate spending several hours per day glassing terrain both on foot and from a pickup truck.
Hunting Style & Physical Requirements:
- Rifle Hunts:
- Hunting Style: Spot and stalk, glassing from high vantage points
- Physical Level: Moderate to High
The client will need to be in good physical and cardiovascular shape and be prepared for long hikes up to 6 miles, involving steep terrain, rough coulees, and rugged grasslands while carrying gear and game. Expect to walk, kneel, and belly crawl at times. Certain situations may require crawling for distances up to 400 yards, as well as sitting or kneeling for extended periods while waiting for game. May involve hiking through snow up to 12″ deep, gaiters help keep you dry and moving. Weather (November: 4 – 40 °F)
Prepare for both mild and colder temperatures, moderate snowfall, and mild snow accumulation. Late season can include heavy snowfall and snow accumulation. Hunters should be prepared for colder conditions, with winter clothing, layers, and waterproof gear recommended.
- Archery Hunts:
- Hunting Style: Stealth, close-range stalking
- Physical Level: High
The client will need to be in good physical and cardiovascular shape and be prepared for long hikes up to 6 miles, involving steep terrain, rough coulees, and rugged grasslands while carrying gear and game. Certain situations may require crawling for distances up to 400 yards, as well as sitting or kneeling for extended periods while waiting for game. Gloves, kneepads, and a backpack that carries your bow hands-free are strongly recommended. Occasional encounters with docile, mildly venomous rattlesnakes can happen, consider gaiters for added protection. - Weather (September: 50 – 95 °F) (October: 32 – 80 °F)
Lots of sun and dry heat in the early season with potential of heavy rainfalls. Mosquitos can be thick. The late season consists of cooler mornings and evenings, with mid-temperature heat during the day. Layers are recommended. Potential for freezing weather and in the late part of the season.
Offering over 5 Wildlife Management Units for both rifle and archery, areas renowned for their trophy-class Mule Deer and Whitetail populations.

Last year I killed a 206” full velvet Buck. Went back again this year and had 5 Adrenalin filled days, several close calls, and an awesome hunt despite the fact that I did not release an arrow this year. I have already booked for next year. Mike is a great guy, a true professional, works hard, has great zones, does what he says he is going to do, provides great accommodations, is a flat out predatory on monster Mulies, and is Alberta’ s Chef Boy Ardee! We ate like Kings. For my time and money…. Monster Mulies and Mike are the real deal.

This is a legit awesome trophy hunt! Hard working guides, not just during the hunt, but based on their knowledge of terrain and animals, they are scouting all the time. As promoted, it’s a Spot and Stalk public land hunt and when boots are on the ground you should expect to keep up….but for me that makes it even more special. They quickly access your abilities, pivot if needed, and are gracious to go above and beyond to make the hunt a success. The memories I made will be treasured the rest of my life, and the trophy on my wall is a testament to this review! Thank you Monster Muley Outfitters!

If you want to experience a true spot and stalk experience with someone who will give you their best effort to put you on a good one. Mike is the guy to hunt with.

These guys are the best! We’ve been hunting with them for three years now and have had nothing but great experiences. They put a lot of time in to make sure you have a quality hunt chasing world class mule deer. I would highly recommend them if chasing big mule deer is on your bucket list. Nothing but great things to say about them and definitely one of the best hunts I've been on.Andrew S.

If you want a true hunting experience This is the outfitter to hire. I had Jason V for a guide, Jason will be well prepared for your hunt, he knows where the big Muleys live travel and hide. Jason will work hard to put you on a Big Muley and give you the hunting experience of a life time.
Nick S.

This has been my 3rd time hunting with Monster Muleys. If you have any doubts, don’t. Jason and Mike care about your success and they know how to get world class mule deer. The knowledge they have is incredible. The saddest part about the hunt is going home knowing you’ll have to wait another year to go chase big deer with guys that you end up becoming friends with. Here’s a picture of mine deer this year.
