Alberta sits at the heart of the Central Flyway, making it a waterfowl hunter’s paradise. From large flocks of mallards and pintails to thousands of honkers and snow geese, our fields and pothole lakes are a prime migration stopover. We offer morning and afternoon hunts over expertly placed decoy spreads, using layout blinds or natural cover.
- Best Time to Hunt: September through late October, peaking during the fall migration when birds are most abundant and responsive to decoys.
- Terrain: Harvested grain fields, pea stubble, and prairie pothole lakes — classic waterfowl habitat that draws thousands of birds daily.
- Success Rate: High, with large flocks and multiple shooting opportunities. Most hunters limit out on ducks and enjoy exciting goose hunts.
- Physical Requirements: Low to moderate. Hunts involve setting up in fields or blinds with some walking required. Accessible for hunters of most abilities.
